The University of Tennessee's search for its next football coach is not officially two weeks old, but sources close to the process of finding Butch Jones' replacement believe the Vols could have their next head coach within 72 hours.

Mississippi State football coach Dan Mullen is in the last stages of becoming next coach of the Florida Gators according to multiple reports.

The hiring of Mullen would mark the first significant hire for athletic director Scott Stricklin, who began his tenure at Florida in the fall of 2016.

When the Florida job opened in 2015, former Gator athletic director Jeremy Foley immediately dismissed Mullen as a candidate.

Florida swung and missed at top target Chip Kelly and then reportedly turned its attention to Mullen and Central Florida coach Scott Frost.

Trump blasts Franken, but stays silent on Moore
But he has ignored repeated questions from reporters since then and left it to Sanders to offer bare-bones comments. Moore has so far been defiant in the face of calls for him to abandon his candidacy.

Campbell has become one of the hottest coaching prospects in the nation after leading Iowa State to a surprising 7-4 record including wins against Big 12 giants Oklahoma and TCU.

Mullen won two national championships at Florida as offensive coordinator under Urban Meyer.

Mississippi State is reportedly set to go "all in" to keep Mullen as of Friday morning (which surely hasn't changed), and bump his salary from $4.5 million to $6 million.

At MSU, Mullen has a 69-46 record and helped developed Conerly Trophy winning quarterback Dak Prescott, now a starter with the Dallas Cowboys.
