Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola: I would never disrespect Tottenham

The 'Harry Kane team' are among Manchester City's title rivals says Pep Guardiola Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola: I would never disrespect Tottenham

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola strongly refuted Mauricio Pochettino's allegation that he disrespected Tottenham by calling them "the Harry Kane team".

The fuse, it turns out, had been burning for almost eight years.

Pochettino, who has played for and later managed Barcelona's city rivals Espanyol, said on Friday that Guardiola struggles to "be a gentleman" after a victory. Messi got all four of them.

"I take that situation, that didn't affect me but the reality is it was very disrespectful for many people and it's hard to understand because he was part of the big success at Barcelona with [Lionel] Messi at his best, and I never said it was "the Messi team" - I always said it was Barcelona or Pep Guardiola". It's always important for us to talk, create a good atmosphere for everyone to be a part and feel happy here.

"I always said it was Barcelona or Pep Guardiola". I was never disrespectful in this period here about my colleagues.

The further twist of Guardiola's knife two weeks ago had come when he had gone on to reference Manchester United as the "Jose Mourinho team". "If you're a manager you must show more, no?" "In the same way he could have said "the Romelu Lukaku team".

The Manchester City manager described Spurs as the "Harry Kane team" when discussing his side's title rivals. "It was very disrespectful to the club".

International Monetary Fund cuts United Kingdom growth forecast
The report says the global economy is experiencing a "welcome cyclical upturn after disappointing growth over the past few years". Finance Minister Amr El-Garhy said last month he expected inflation to drop below 15 percent by that time frame.

England boss Gareth Southgate was quick to call upon the Spurs man after injury had ruled Manchester City man Fabian Delph out of proceedings for the worldwide double header last week.

"I know Pep", Pochettino was quoted as saying by Goal, "When he's excited after an unbelievable win he struggles to keep his position and be a gentleman".

By the end of the press conference, Pochettino had have left his subject in tatters.

"I think it's a sad comment because the players laugh about that. Why that comment? It didn't help him, it's not a good thing for anyone". Never, never in my career was I disrespectful.

"When I said "Harry Kane's team" it was because of the fact Harry Kane was scoring a lot of goals".

"It was amusing when I heard him the other day because I know Pep very well". Personally, I didn't take it in a bad way. Maybe I can answer when someone attacks my team or my club but I would never be disrespectful about what Mauricio and Tottenham did.
