Every Star Trek Pilot Episode, Ranked From Worst To Best

039;Star Trek Discovery' Premiere Draws 8 Million Viewers on CBS Why 6'4″ Lt. Saru on 'Star Trek: Discovery' Walks Like Supermodel

In that regard, Discovery shares more in common with its Star Trek ancestors, making the move to a more cinematic, action-based Star Trek series a little easier to swallow for some.

Episodes one and two of "Star Trek: Discovery" are now available to stream on CBS All Access, so if you were watching football you can catch-up on the new sci-fi adventure.

It's a sarcophagus ship, a 200-year-old leviathan about three times larger than any of the Starfleet vessels we see in the premiere.

"Star Trek: Discovery" premieres at 8 p.m. Sunday evening on CBS, with all subsequent episodes streaming on CBS All Access, the network's digital subscription video-on-demand and live-streaming service.

Episodes one and two of Star Trek: Discovery are now available to stream on CBS All Access. She even called Michael Burnham "Number One", a term used by Picard to refer to his first officer.

The series also stars James Frain, Rainn Wilson, Doug Jones, Anthony Rapp, Chris Obi, Mary Chieffo, Terry Serpico, Maulik Pancholy, Sam Vartholomeos, Rekha Sharma, Kenneth Mitchell, Clare McConnell, and Damon Runyan. Flitting between props like dilithium crystals, the hull of Discovery, an environmental suit akin to the one Commander Michael Burnham wears in the early stages of "The Vulcan Hello", a phaser, a communicator and more, it leaves no doubt what you're about to watch.

Tesla might have a new partner to develop self-driving auto 'brains'
Tesla silicon project is being headed by longtime chip architect Jim Keller who took over from Chris Lattner in June. Tesla also brought other veterans in the tech industry: Ganesh Venkataramanan, Bill McGee, and Dan Bailey.

Star Trek: Discovery is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Alex Kurtzman's Secret Hideout, Bryan Fuller's Living Dead Guy Productions and Roddenberry Entertainment.

Still, if that represents a fresh approach distribution-wise, where "Discovery" feels weakest is in the fundamental qualities that have defined the best "Trek" series - namely, the strength of the interplay among its characters. But those were movies, self-contained narratives that began and ended in a single sitting - and as much as the people behind Star Trek: Discovery insist that they've made a 15-hour movie, that's not the case. It's definitely not what fans will be expecting, but it also sets the series apart, immediately letting us know that this series will be dramatic and new and perhaps nothing like what we've seen before on Star Trek TV.

Nearly no one has seen a Klingon in more than 100 years.

Discovery stacks up OK against Star Trek Enterprise and the other instalments in the franchise, but compared to more complex and sophisticated shows like The Expanse, it seems lacking in a few key places. She's the first officer on the U.S.S. Not-The-Title-Of-The-Show, serving under Captain Not-Jason-Isaacs (Michelle Yeoh) when a mission to fix a communications relay leads to a confrontation with Klingons, who, according to the show, haven't been seen for 100 years.

If interest holds beyond the first two episodes, it's likely that Star Trek: Discovery will get a Season 2 renewal. In the meantime, I'm going to wait and see.

The other show feels like a version of Star Trek created to cater to the immediate cultural moment in all the wrong ways. Instead, the show follows the so-called Prime timeline, which includes the original series, "Star Trek: The Next Generation", "Star Trek: Voyager", "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine", and the ten feature films in between. Star Trek isn't Star Trek if it isn't examining us, and Discovery looks to keep the Gene Roddenberry flame lit in that regard.
