Rouhani Says Iran Will Proceed With Missile Program

Rouhani plane Tasnim news: Iran unveils a ballistic missile that can hit Israel

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Friday vowed that Iran will continue to build up its ballistic missile program and other capabilities, as it showed off its military hardware in defiance of USA criticism and rising tensions.

US defense officials said the test seemed to be a failure because the missile crashed or exploded after flying more than 500 miles.

The state-run news agency IRNA quoted the chief of the Revolutionary Guards' airspace division, General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, as saying that the new missile "can carry several warheads for various uses".

The unveiling of the new missile comes two months after Iran launched a missile into space, prompting a new round of sanctions and criticism from the United States.

President Rouhani said: "We will promote our defensive and military power as much as we deem necessary".

Iran has "successfully" launched a ballistic missile with a range of 2,000 km, Press TV reported on Saturday.

Theresa May expects 'seamless' transition to trading with Canada post-Brexit
The case was inspired by the 2016 purchase by Delta Air Lines to buy up to 125 C Series airliners from Bombardier. Mrs May will also welcome the appointment of Brigg & Goole MP Andrew Percy as her trade envoy to Canada.

The broadcaster gave no date for the test, although officials had said on Friday that it would be tested "soon". Even if those chances are slim, if Iran pushes Israel to the wall, they will nearly certainly respond.

The deal between Iran and world powers does not strictly prohibit Iran from developing missiles, but after the agreement came into effect last year, the UN Security Council adopted a resolution calling on Iran not to take any actions related to ballistic missiles "designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons" for eight years.

He also criticized the 2015 pact that the United States and six other powers struck with Iran under which Tehran agreed to restrict its nuclear program in return for relief from economic sanctions. "We will not seek permission from anyone to defend our country", Rouhani said in a speech broadcast on state television.

"President Trump rightly called the nuclear deal with Iran, he called it an embarrassment", Netanyahu continued. The missile is named Khorramshahr after the Iranian city where the first major engagement of the war occurred. "As long as Iranians were barred from entering the USA, US citizens would be barred from entering Iran; as soon as the US lifts the ban, as it was forced to do at the end of February, Iran would respond in kind".

The president called on the world to join the U.S.
