Susan Rice keeps top-secret security clearance, H.R. McMaster letter says - Circa EXCLUSIVE: 'Everything The President Wants To Do, McMaster Opposes,' Former NSC Official Says

Colonel Derek Harvey, who McMaster dismissed in July, was, according to Mark Levin's Conservative Review, "involved in President Trump's efforts to rid the National Security Council of Obama holdovers, who were suspected of leaking national security secrets to the press".

The officials also noted that during US President Donald Trump's recent trip to Israel, McMaster's held a lengthy meeting with Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman, and highlighted his regular contacts with Defense Ministry officials. But given the rampant speculation about even McMaster's own status - President Donald Trump is said to be considering sending him to Afghanistan to command US-led forces there - few were mollified.

On "The Story" tonight, Lt. Col. Michael Waltz (Ret.) said Trump is right to be frustrated with the lack of a comprehensive strategy in Afghanistan. In early August, McMaster pushed out Ezra Cohen-Watnick, whom Flynn had hired for the NSC and McMaster had tried to fire earlier in the year (he was blocked by Bannon and others from doing so).

Though Harvey has a reputation as a belligerent Iran hawk, his and McMaster's views on the the Islamic Republic deal did not result in his dismissal, aides said. Rice has been accused by the president, who has cited no evidence, of involvement in attempts to unmask Trump officials wiretapped by US intelligence agencies during last year's election. The president's son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, also gave his vote of confidence to McMaster, calling him "a true public servant and a tremendous asset for the president and the administration".

"On Wednesday, radio host Laura Ingraham tweeted a months-old article from the New York Times about McMaster's 'break with the administration on Islam, '" the Weekly Standard explained.

What hasn't been reported is that it was McMaster who pressured Trump to agree not to let Netanyahu accompany him to the Western Wall.

Euro-Area Economy Steams Ahead As ECB Waits For Inflation
The latest check on manufacturing on Tuesday pointed to a rise in activity in July, helped by strong growth in export orders. Among the clearest signs of a rebound has been the euro's pick-up to around $1.17, from $1.05 at the start of the year.

One of those fired - Director for Strategic Planning, Rich Higgins - was canned last month after writing a memo that described threats to Trump's presidency to include globalists, bankers, the "deep state", and Islamists. "They're taking out people who were chosen to best implement the president's policy that he articulated during the campaign".

"He is a good man and very pro-Israel".

McMaster's various moves have been noticed by Trump's base, with #FireMcMaster becoming a trending hashtag on Twitter, and a regular topic on conservative news sites - including Breitbart News.

McMaster does, however, appear to have the support of new chief of staff and fellow general John Kelly.

Some say McMaster's "purge" is part of a larger conflict in the White House between those committed to "draining the swamp,"' and "bureaucratic interests" trying to maintain establishment control over policy.
