Police in Chicago issued arrest warrants on Monday for Andrew Warren, 56, a senior treasurer assistant at Somerville, and another suspect, on the count of first-degree murder.

The pair are wanted for the death of 26-year-old Trenton H. James Cornell-Duranleau, who was found fatally stabbed Thursday on the tenth floor of the Grand Plaza Apartments on State Street, where police say Lathem lives. Lathem is listed as a friend on Cornell-Duranleau's Facebook page.

Duranleau grew up in MI, but most recently lived in an apartment building near West 22nd Place and South Wood Street in Pilsen.

Public records indicate Lathem living at the address where Cornell-Duranleau's body was found. Neighbors tell WGN News that the two men had been dating for some time, but that the victim was trying to break up with Lathem to be with someone else.

He said there is no indication that Lathem, an associate professor of microbiology-immunology who has been on the faculty since 2007, is a danger to anyone at the school.

Alan Cubbage, a Northwestern vice president, said Lathem has been banned from the campus and placed on administrative leave.

Students at Northwestern say they are shocked today to hear these allegations.

A US-wide hunt has intensified for an American professor and an Oxford University employee suspected of stabbing a man to death in Chicago.

"My research focuses on the mechanisms by which pathogenic bacteria cause disease in humans, using Yersinia species as models to understand the nature of the host-pathogen interaction during respiratory (lung) infections", Lathem wrote on his profile.

Mr Cornell-Duranleau, originally from MI, worked as a cosmetologist in Chicago.

Cornell-Duranleau's mother Mischelle Duranleau remembered her son in a Facebook post, the newspaper reported.

"Throughout his life, he loved music and animals", the obituary read. "Trenton was a caregiver and loved to help others".

According to the Chicago Tribune, an Oxford University statement said it was "not aware of this case, which is clearly extremely concerning".
