"With his reputation - and potentially his job - in the balance, tonight Bill Maher initially ducked around the expected apology for using a racial slur on last week's episode of ".

Bill Maher, whose use of the n-word sparked controversy last week, apologized on Friday's episode Real Time.

The Real Time host apologised on his HBO show on Friday night after the uproar caused by his comments.

"I knew you was going to f*ck up sooner or later", Cube joked at first. "You made a mistake, you've acknowledged that mistake", Dyson added. "Maybe we need to take a group field trip to the National Museum of African American History and Culture ... to put some visuals to the things we're talking about", Sanders said. "I did a bad thing". Now, I know you heard [it], it's in the lexicon and everybody's talkin, ' but that's our word now. I'm not here to do that.

One person wasn't feeling Cube's reasoning, because, he's a gangsta rapper and all, and made a decision to call him out on Twitter.

Harrington receives six stitches in elbow after bizarre accident
Three-time major victor Padraig Harrington has been forced to withdraw from this week's St Jude Classic due to a freak injury. He had already failed to qualify for next week's US Open and was able to see the amusing side.

"My Bible tells me that to whom much is given", Dyson said, "much is expected". On the live Friday night broadcast of his political talk show, to cheers of support, Maher greeted his studio audience by saying, "Thank you for letting a sinner in your midst". When his guest facetiously invited him out to Nebraska to "work in the fields", Maher answered, "Work in the fields?"

"'I think this is a teachable moment not just to you, but the people watching right now,"' Ice Cube told Maher. "That's our word now, and you can't have it back".

Maher's use of the word on last week's Real Time stirred a social media firestorm and prompted an immediate apology from Sasse. "I know they're trying to get it back". Maher reminded his pal that he didn't mean no malice for the joke, but made it point to push the topic as a "comedian" issue rather than a "race" issue.

You can see further discussion between Maher, Cube, and Sanders in the clip below. Because when I hear my homies say it, it don't feel like venom. And you could use it as a weapon or you could use it as a tool. "It's like a knife, man", Ice Cube said. "I just didn't want to sit around for 4-5 days being attacked for going on the show before I went on the show".

As Cube explains, it's a word that has been used as a weapon in the past, saying "It's like a knife" and it can't be allowed to be used like that again.
