Sessions on Hawaii remark: 'Nobody has a sense of humor'

Sessions said the construction of the wall would be "the end of illegality" and charged that Democrats would be exclusively responsible in the event of a government shutdown on Saturday due to a disagreement over the border barrier.

Yet the man whose job is to be the top lawyer for all of us said something very similar about a federal judge in Hawaii who blocked President Donald Trump's travel ban. "I'd like to see this be a circumstance once again where we understand what the wall would mean and where", Sessions, the chairman of the House Rules Committee, said on CNN's "New Day".

"I think it goes without saying that the president has been pretty straightforward about his desire and the need for a border wall so I would suspect that he'll do the right thing for sure, but I would suspect that he'll be insistent for funding", said Kelly during the interview.

"I really am amazed that a judge sitting on an island in the Pacific can issue an order that stops the president of the United States from what appears to be clearly his statutory and constitutional power".

"The suggestion that being from Hawaii somehow disqualifies Judge Watson from performing his Constitutional duty is risky, ignorant, and prejudiced", Hirono said in a statement Thursday.

"The way the system works is that whenever the government is shut down, people blame the Republicans", Sessions said. We're going to defend that order all the way up.

Whitson arrived at the space station November 19, 2016, and is sharing her experiences in space on Twitter , Tumblr and Facebook . In memory of the late astronaut, a supply ship bearing his name arrived at the International Space Station (ISS) on Saturday.

The comments came days after the attorney general in an interview with conservative radio host Mark Levin slammed Judge Derrick Watson's ruling.

"Dear "Attorney General" Sessions", Lieu wrote on his Twitter account.

"In 2006, 64 Democrats approved a bill to build a fence, a barrier", Fox's Brian Kilmeade said, referring to the Secure Fence Act of 2006.

People, especially those from Hawaii, were not amused.

In response, the Department of Justice tried to walk back Sessions' remarks, saying in a statement that "Hawaii is, in fact, an island in the Pacific ― a lovely one where the Attorney General's granddaughter was born".

When, Stephanopoulos pressed Sessions on This Week for a response to Hirono, asking "Why not just call it the state of Hawaii?"
