The Super Bowl-champion New England Patriots are visiting the White House Wednesday to accept congratulations from President Trump for another National Football League title.

Brady cited "personal family matters" as his reason for skipping the ceremony.

As Spicer was addressing the assembled press, the tight end stuck his head into the briefing room and offered to help him out.

A handful of other Patriots players had already opted out of the trip, some citing political differences with Trump.

Superstar quarterback Tom Brady, a noted Trump supporter, also missed the event, but he reportedly pulled out on Wednesday morning due to "personal family matters". His wife, Gisele Bundchen, flatly told a user on social media "NO!" shortly before the election when asked if she and her husband were supporting Trump. But he didn't get a Super Bowl ring, which means Russian president Vladimir Putin - who reportedly stole Kraft's Super Bowl XXXIX ring worth $25,000 - has more rings than Trump.

Bennett, Blount, Floyd, Gaffney, Jackson, Long, Mingo, Scruggs and DeAndrew White are no longer on the team.

One design reads "Chaffetz is a Bully", while another shows the congressman's face accompanied by an even pithier caption. Thank you!Thank you for allowing me to serve as your Representative in the United States House of Representatives.

Trump, who is on favorable terms with coach Bill Belichick and team owner Robert Kraft, was unable to see another one of his friends on Wednesday.

The team gave Mr. Trump a Super Bowl 51 helmet and a New England Patriots' jersey with "Trump" and "45" printed on the back, a nod to the fact that he's the 45th president of the United States. Trump did not mention Brady, who was awarded the Super Bowl MVP award and whom he has called a friend, in his absence. I love you mom and dad!'

Despite the very obvious photo evidence showing a smaller crowd for Trump than Obama had, let's not be the least bit surprised when Trump inevitably claims this was the largest gathering of New England Patriots at the White House in history. "I don't support the guy that's in the (White) House", he said.

Few would label President Donald Trump as a sports nut, but his affinity for the New England Patriots is undeniable. But Brady also declined to attend 2015.

But some of that game's key players kept far away from the White House, including six-time team captain and safety Devin McCourty, who said at a Boston University event earlier this week that he wouldn't "feel accepted in the White House".
