HELENA, Mont. (AP) - U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions sought Tuesday to deepen ties with Native Americans by allowing more tribal nations to tap into national anti-crime databases.

Law enforcement officials on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation in Montana began training this week on accessing the federal data.

"MS-13 has become a symbol of this plague that has spread across our country and into our communities", Attorney General Jeff Sessions said.

The Trump administration vowed Tuesday to crack down on MS-13, a notoriously brutal Central American street gang blamed for a recent series of killings in suburban NY, and accused Obama-era border policies of allowing its ranks to flourish.

President Donald Trump echoed Sessions' commitment to a more aggressive crime fighting approach, going a step further to blame the Obama administration by name for the rise of MS-13.

The official number of detainees who are taking part in the strike remains unclear. Now 500 Palestinians are being held in this way, according to Mr Fares.

"Because of an open border and years of lax immigration enforcement, MS-13 has been sending both recruiters and members to regenerate gangs that previously had been decimated, and smuggling members across the border as unaccompanied minors", Sessions said.

"If you're a gang member, we'll find you".

He says tougher enforcement of immigration and border crimes will curb gang activity.

"Sanctuary cities are aiding these cartels to refill their ranks and putting innocent life - including the lives of countless law-abiding immigrants - in danger", Sessions said.

Stricter vetting at the border is necessary to stop MS-13 members from coming into the U.S., Trusty said, noting some are coached to tell immigration officials they're escaping violence in their home country in order to stay.

The Trump administration, led by Sessions, has taken a strong stance on sanctuary policies, claiming that local authorities are releasing risky criminals.
