A host of Apple's most popular productivity and digital creation apps are now free on iOS and macOS.

And like all of Apple's software, iMovie lets you work on the same project across multiple devices, so you can begin a project on your iPhone and continue with it on your iPad, "then take advantage of additional features on your Mac to add finishing touches like color correction, green-screen effects, and animated maps". Put another way, the only folks who will notice a change are those who might have had trouble downloading the apps in the first place.

Apple has released updated versions of its iWork, iMovie, and GarageBand apps today for both macOS and iOS.

A while ago, users purchasing new Macs or iPhones discovered that these applications were now free on their platform.

It was an ominous start to Tillerson's visit. "The world's two foremost nuclear powers can not have this kind of relationship". But he said Moscow and Washington had agreed to continue co-operating to try to find a political solution for Syria .

Of course, if you're a Mac and/or iOS user without any of these apps, you've probably been using alternatives for a while.

Apple previously provided free copies of these apps to those who purchased new hardware.

Apple's said to drop support for 32-bit devices when iOS 11 is released so this may be a sign that this change is coming. Many Apple customers were already likely eligible to download the software at no cost if they had made a device purchase in the last few years. The Mac versions of the iWork apps were $19.99 and the iOS versions were $9.99 apiece. iMovie and GarageBand were similarly priced for Mac $14.99 and $4.99, respectively, and their iOS counterparts were $4.99 on the App Store. The free versions are now available on the iTunes Store and the Mac App Store.
