Hillary Clinton responds to Syria strike

Erik Tate | 17 April, 2017, 05:34

Hillary Clinton has called for an independent investigation into the involvement of Russian Federation into the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election. Clinton, who spoke at the Women in the World conference in NY on Thursday, called for the U.S. Congress to launch an investigation into the matter.

Clinton during her tenure as the Secretary of State under former President Barack Obama - and during the presidential campaign - advocated more aggressive action to deter Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad, CBS News reported.

"Syria has been a wicked problem for a very long time, and the images of innocent people, of parents, and especially of children, suffering in the aftermath of that most recent deadly gas attack, were more appalling than I certainly could put into words", she said at the Texas event. "We should have been more willing to confront Assad", said Clinton.

The United States could not in one breath speak of protecting Syrian babies and in the next, close the U.S. doors to the refugees from Syria, she said.

"But the action taken last night needs to be followed by a broader strategy to end Syria's civil war, and to eliminate ISIS's stronghold on both sides of the border", she continued.

Arsenal make Sanchez move
Wenger said: "He played for a while centre-forward and has the focus needed to score". The Chilean media keep following every move from Alexis Sanchez.

Clinton said family and friends "rallied around me in an wonderful way" and used the platform Thursday to level barbs against the Trump administration, which she said was going through "some very public growing pains".

Clinton addressed President Donald Trump's decision to launch a missile strike on Syrian forces for using chemical weapons against civilians. "Although he [Putin] did shake hands with me", said Clinton in a clear reference to Trump's refusal to shake hands with German Chancellor Angela Merkel during the latter's visit.

She said she spent a lot of time wrestling with the fact that 53 percent of white women voted for Donald Trump.

Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic party nominee for president, said misogyny was part of why she lost in an interview with Nicholas Kristof at the "Women In The World" summit.
