Richard Sherman reportedly asked Seahawks to trade him

Richard Sherman reportedly asked Seahawks to trade him Richard Sherman reportedly asked Seahawks to trade him

I don't see a deal getting done, but if it doesn't, this is probably Sherman's previous year in Seattle.

While Sherman doesn't have a no-trade clause like the NBA's Carmelo Anthony, he does have the right to not cooperate or even try to obstruct a trade to a team he doesn't want to join.

"It has been my understanding all along that Richard Sherman was the one who initiated this", Schefter said, according to his colleague Sheil Kapadia.

Like most players, Sherman in not all that well-versed in roster building, and the last thing a smart National Football League decision maker wants to do is give up two valuable assets who would be under cost-effective contracts for one who projects to be one of the highest paid at his particular position. The New England Patriots have reportedly backed off their interest and are expected to retain Malcolm Butler. The Seahawks will likely demand a first round draft pick, and possibly another player, or more picks, in the draft. Sherman lashed out, apparently at defensive coordinator Kris Richard, after the defense gave up a big play during an October game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Flyers' Neuvirth carted off ice after collapsing in crease
It was a scary scene in Philadelphia as Michal Neuvirth collapsed untouched in goal at the 7:37 mark of the first period. But that just seemed a sideshow for the night's other incidents, including the scary collapse of goalie Michal Neuvirth.

As early as Tuesday, there were already confirmed reports that the Seahawks were aggressively looking for trades involving Sherman.

"I think we're a very unique organization in that regard".

Meanwhile, Seahawks GM John Schneider was not shy in admitting that they are open to trading their top corner. While sometimes you can chalk news like this up to nothing more than rumor mill fodder, both the Seahawks and Sherman have stated a trade could happen. We know what's going on. The combination of a Super Bowl contender with the cap space to take on his current contract, the willingness to part with significant assets and then consider a contract extension is going to be tough to find.
