Delta cancelled nearly 3000 flights in the past week

Jeannie Matthews | 09 Апреля, 2017, 04:54

Delta canceled approximately 275 more flights on Saturday, adding as the Atlanta-based airline continues to recover from last week's round of storms that has already resulted in 3,000 cancelations nationwide.

The airline said it ordered more than 700 boxes of pizza for some customers who were impacted by weather-related cancellations and delays at airports in Georgia, Tennessee, Louisiana, Ohio, Kentucky and elsewhere.

The Federal Aviation Administration, Delta and Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport advised travelers to check their flight status to find out if theirs is affected by the storms.

Passengers waited in lines for hours in return, and got updates from Delta Airlines delaying their flights. The airline also offered to waive change fees for those who rebooked their plans. They sent me a text saying my red eye flight out of Honolulu was cancelled two hours before boarding.

When these Delta passengers couldn't make their flight, the airline instead made a decision to treat everyone to a bite.

To get to Memphis would require waiting until Saturday, and spending another night in Atlanta. So after I left St. Louis at 5:30 this (Wednesday) morning and after multiple diversions and delays, they cancelled our final flight at 9:30 (Wednesday) tonight and there are no more flights out on Delta until Sunday.

The problems in Memphis appeared to be for passengers flying through Atlanta and Chicago.

"I would have to think that the value of all of the free publicity greatly exceeds the cost of the pizzas, " he said.

"Look, we all understand that bad weather happens".

She said they were able to get refunds on the flights and nearly everything else they had booked for the spring break trip, and they managed to get last minute reservations to leave Monday for the Cayman Islands. I'll fly Delta again. Additionally, Delta has ranked No.1 in the Business Travel News Annual Airline survey for an unprecedented six consecutive years.
