WWE made a big announcement on Wednesday when it was revealed that former NXT Tag Team Champion Simon Gotch had been released. All that was said was that Gotch was gone as of April 5, 2017, and they wished him the best "in all his future endeavors".

The Vaudevillains won the NXT Tag Team Championship during their time in NXT, and they made an instant impact upon getting called up to the main roster in April of past year. Poor booking choices and the nearly extinct division on Smackdown Live hurt any potential the two had as a team in the WWE.

After losing a tournament to become No. 1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship, however, they lost to the New Day and faded into the background. The company has not yet addressed how this affects the future of Gotch's former tag team partner, Aiden English, who along with Gotch was on the SmackDown brand.

'Get Out' leads expanded, gender-free MTV Movie and TV Awards
The MTV Movie & TV awards will no longer feature separate categories for male and female actors - and will add TV and streaming categories.

In regards to Gotch, it's being reported that his personality rubbed a lot of people the wrong way backstage. Will the WWE repackage Aiden English as a singles competitor? They faced-off against American Alpha and Simon took the pin.

Gotch had been with WWE since June 2013. The Vaudevillains have not been used all that much since getting called up to the main roster, and they honestly had a gimmick that did not translate well to WWE television.
